崔若男:《韦大列<北京的歌谣>与中国现代歌谣运动》,《文化遗产》2020年第2期。
【内容摘要】韦大列的《北京的歌谣》及其中提出的“真诗”这一说法,可以发现来华西方人在建立“诗”和“poetry”的对应关系的过程中,如何确定了歌谣在文学史中的地位,如何通过将民间歌谣引入“诗”的范畴,进而对晚清以降的中国新诗实践产生了影响,并进一步促成了中国知识分子对歌谣的“文艺的”价值的认同。而《北京的歌谣》一书中对歌谣的注解,也恰恰从白话语言与“民族心声”两个方面,为中国学者采集歌谣提供了一个“文艺的”范本。

Vitale’s Pekinese Rhymes and the Chinese Folksong Movement in Modern Time

Abstract: Taking Vitale’s Pekinese Rhymes and the “true poetry” proposed in this book as examples, we can find out how Westerners in China introduced folksongs into the category of “Poetry” and established the status of folksongs in the history of literature in the translation between “Shi”(诗)and “Poetry”. And then, influencing the practice of Chinese new poetry in the late Qing Dynasty, and further facilitating the agreement of the literary value of Chinese folksong in Chinese intellectuals. The annotations in the Pekinese Rhymes also provide a literary model for Chinese scholars to collect folksongs from the vernacular language and “national voice”.
