【Abstract】This paper explores how Mazu, the indigenous goddess of the sea who is believed to protect fishermen and sailors became an integral part of not only the national culture of China but also of many different countries of the world. This essay focuses on the journey of Tianhou from a local to global level, while some views of foreign scholars are briefly reviewed.
